Welcome to My Blog!
I retired in 2013 after 23 years as an international flight attendant while living and raising two children in Singapore. I became an empty nester in 2018 when my son graduated college, and my daughter started college. I moved back to Singapore in 2018 and once again lived the ex-pat lifestyle, but as it is with ex-pats, most of my ex-pat friends had transitioned. As an empty nester, I didn’t have much in common with the new ex-pat mothers I met. However, whenever I met new people, just as always, conversations evolved around travel once they realized I was a former flight attendant. People often ask me questions and opinions about travel, so in 2020, I decided to blog about it.
I knew my behind-the-scenes view of travel and travel experiences as a woman of color would make my blog different from many other travel blogs. Being a Black woman, my experience as a flight attendant, extensive travel experience, and ex-pat life give me a different perspective. I hope you can learn from these amazing moments in my life and gain insights on how to best prepare for your next domestic and, or international travels.
Please, remember to like and share my blogs with your friends and family!

Travel during the Christmas holidays.
Travel during the Christmas holidays can be stressful with extra crowds and often densely packed airplanes. With COVID, holiday travel takes on an even more stressed environment. However, it’s also a chance to visit family and friends, and maybe spend the holiday in...
Traveling to Thailand-The Thailand Pass
COVID has created many changes in traveling, and I’m happy that many countries have started to open their borders to travelers. As I’ve mentioned before, now more than ever, traveling takes planning. As of November 1, 2021, Thailand has reopened to travelers with a...
COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Recently a friend traveled from Washington DC to Egypt. She discussed with me the harrowing experience of trying to get a required Covid test for travel. With recent federal guidelines, the need for Covid testing has increased, and availability has decreased. As the...
Medical tourism
My first foray into medical tourism was in 2006. I went to Bangkok on vacation and slept for over 24 hours. I placed it as jetlag and the release and relaxation of being away from home. My partner thought differently and took me to Bumrungrad International hospital...
Singapore COVID-19 rules and restrictions
I decided to return to Singapore to be with my husband, and I knew there would be COVID restrictions. However, many travelers consider the requirements for getting into the country but not the restrictions once in the country. In the US, COVID restrictions pale in...
Travel and the coronavirus-Omicron
We’ve spent most of 2020 and 2021 living with COVID and its impact on travel. I previously wrote a dated blog post about the effects of COVID-19 on travel. It has become clear that 2022 will not be much different than the previous years. The travel industry has once...
Tips for enjoying airline flights
Although many people love traveling, the actual flight time is not the most attractive part of traveling. As a former international flight attendant and someone who commuted to work by air travel, there are a few ways travelers can make their flight more tolerable. ...
Long-haul flights
If there’s anything that provides an authentic travel experience, it’s long-haul flights. As a flight attendant, I commuted to work by air from Dallas, London, Germany, and Singapore while being an international flight attendant in New York. It is not a commute I...
Thankful for the travel lesson of patience.
As we get ready to celebrate this Thanksgiving, I reflect on reasons to be thankful. There is a lot I am grateful for, but as I am still waiting on the process of being able to get about in Singapore, I am most thankful for patience. I realize that one of the...
Why EbonyTravelers?
It’s been a year since I started this blog, and I often get asked about the inspiration behind it. I named it EbonyTravelers because I know without a doubt that representation matters to black travelers. I became a flight attendant in the late ’80s. My training...
Being a black traveler
It’s 2021, and it still amazes me to see the reactions of people I assume think I don’t belong in a particular space. Stereotypes are well established, and I still get the microaggressive questions like, where are you from? What do you do? What does your husband do? ...
What’s in an airplane seat?
Consideration should be made in choosing your seat on an airplane, especially over long distances. Frequent travelers usually have a preference noted in their flight record and know to get to the airport early to request a change if their choice is not available. ...
