In this week’s blog post, I’m excited to share my exquisite experience at the Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel. This newly opened luxury hotel is nestled in the heart of the picturesque Amalfi Coast in Italy. The property was once a 13th-century monastery and has now been transformed into a stunning haven for travelers seeking elegance, culture, and serenity. I highly recommend visiting this remarkable hotel if you’re seeking a luxurious escape along the Amalfi Coast.
My husband and I flew into Naples’s airport and took an hour and twenty-minute limo ride to the hotel. At first, the ride was standard, but as we got to traveling on the famous Amalfi Drive, the road became breathtaking, not only for the spectacular views of the coastline but also for the narrow and winding road along the cliffside. The hotel was truly enchanting, with stone walls, lush gardens, and intricate details that effortlessly blended historic charm with modern luxury. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hotel’s attentive staff, who took care of our luggage as we took two of the required elevators to reach the 5th-floor reception area.
As Royal members of the Anantara Vacation Club, we were given an upgraded room with stunning sea views of the azure Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding coastal cliffs. The elegantly furnished room featured plush linens, a Nespresso machine, a marble bathroom, and a private nook where we enjoyed our morning coffee as we watched the sun rise over the water. We enjoyed dining at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Il Refettorio. The menu showcased the finest local ingredients, many of which are grown on the property and were expertly crafted into delectable dishes that genuinely captured the essence of Amalfi Coast cuisine. Each meal was a delightful journey for our taste buds, from breakfast to dinner.
The Anantara Convento di Alalfi Grand Hotel boasts an array of exceptional amenities. There was an infinity pool with breathtaking views of the sea. Unfortunately, the temperature was a bit cool during my stay, so I never got to enjoy the beautiful pool. However, the gym was an outdoor gym that also offered sea views. I got to ride the exercise bike outdoors beneath a blooming lemon tree filled with lemons and enjoyed the view of the Amalfi Coast. We did not take advantage of the hotel’s spa as our days were filled with other activities. We took a self-guided tour of the nearby historic town of Amalfi by walking down the hotel’s cliffside. We got to have lemon sorbet served in fresh lemons directly across from the famous Amalfi Cathedral.
Our stay at the Anantara Convento di Alalfi Grand Hotel was magical. As a history buff, the property’s rich history was impressive. The property was a former convent that dated back to the 13th century. Because of the convent’s immense historical and cultural value, it has now become a beautiful hotel property through a careful restoration project. You can still feel and see the unique character of the building along with the original architectural elements, including an original chapel on site.
Embracing life’s journey is essential to self-love and growth, regardless of age. For those over 50, every day is an opportunity to flourish and cherish our unique beauty. It may not be for everyone, but I have learned to embrace luxurious and unique experiences when I can. I hope that you do as well.
